Carreer paths and sustainment in the industry
One of the friends was suggesting that I should just start applying for director postions at companies. Because the pool of candidates that will be applying for them will be very small. If I keep focusing on daily labour jobs like Software Engineer, the competition is huge. Even for one position, the amount of competition is very huge and the chances of getting the job are very small. And that can only go worse as my age keeps increasing. We should start thinking about applying for director positions. Re-build the resume that way. Add points like “I took the team in that direction or this direction”, “made key strategic decisions for the team to do that particular thing”, etc. If I just start taking interviews, even though I don’t crack the first few interviews, I will know what they are looking for in a candidate and mold myself to become a potential candidate.
It is not a bad suggestion. Something I should keep in my mind.
