Even if I have a job, I should not get complacent. When I had comfortable jobs, I never bothered to ask what my next play is. I did not ask questions about job market in various cities, about full-time opportunies, career growth, etc.
If I wait till things get bad to start thinking about my next play, it means that things are pretty bad for pretty much everyone out there in the job market. It would be kind of like waiting for the recession to hit before I start looking for a job. It will be very very difficult to make a good move in that kind of situations. It is not a good strategy.
